Left Bank Leeds

The brief was to design a new identity for Left Bank Leeds.

I began this brief when it first came out. I thought it'd be really easy and simple, but after a bit of time designing I lost all interest. The brief wasn't something I was actually interested in, the style of design wasn't to my taste and found it difficult. So I thought I'd move on to another brief I enjoyed more.

I started by reading up about Left Bank, looking at what they do.
'Left Bank Leeds is a multidisciplinary arts venue set in an amazing Grade II* listed former church building. Our mission is to preserve our amazing venue in order to inspire and empower our community via a sustainable programme of arts and events that promotes creativity, connection and wellbeing.
Left Bank Leeds is run by the charity, Word of Life (charity no 1086843).  Money raised from hire and performances goes into the development of Left Bank Leeds.'
I looked at stain glass and the building it self for visuals. But the brief was to create a simplistic logo, slightly bauhaus and modern.

I started to sketch up ideas and mess around with them. I could feel after doing a few that I wasn't going to finish this brief.

This used the bricks of the building and then there was a lot of playing around with colour and shape. This was too far from the brief, as they wanted no colour and one simple shape.

The brief wanted a shape with the words so I drew some up. This is a churchy kind of shape to demonstrate that Left Bank in a church building.

I think I didn't finish this brief because the ideas I had didn't feel very strong or interesting to me. I think I got bored by this brief too quickly.
