More info to explain the new business
If this was an older business, more established, we could be more subtle with less information. But these series of posters are for a new opening, the introduction of the business, so needs to be detailed.
One of the critiques that makes a lot of sense to me is the idea of using photography in the poster. I normally really don't like to use photography because there's a lot of risks during printing etc.
However, in order to make someone one a pizza topped hotdog and really think, 'mm yeah that looks lush' we need to show them.
I used images from Fatdog in Amsterdam as filler until I shot my own.
I began to set up a new poster. Using the image as the focus, because that's what we're wanting the public to want.
With this redesign, there is a headline - the headline describes the product, using language that should make someone think they look/sound good.
The image - takes centre stage, so the product is very obvious for the public
The logo, is near the text so it's all together. The readers eye would probably go to the bottom
The text, gives you a date and some information on how to find us.
The typeface is a mixture of using Blanch and SignPainter. There is a good juxtaposition using these two fonts. One is masculine in your face and confident, which is how we feel about the hotdogs, confident they'll sell well.
The sign painter typeface is more gentile, feminine and looks quality, which we are trying to sell now. Gourmet, good quality hotdogs.
The target audience has expanded now because of the new design. It's more for everyone rather than just young people.
I experimented a lot with the type, colour, order so the hierarchy was right and it read well.
These posters look a lot better than the ones with the illustrations. However, there still isn't enough information. I need to make up an address, which we could say we're at every week. This way the public will know there is a solid concrete position for us, but we will explain how we move about etc. I think there needs to be a series of posters, to explain the different aspects of our business.
