TopDogs New Posters Development

The posters soon developed into a series. This was because I began to design a poster with a purpose and it created a few around that. They would be distributed around Newcastle City centre and surrounding towns. The artwork can be put into newspapers and other printed material to create publicity.
They will be printed on gloss card stock. This is so they are cheap and sturdy.

This poster was purely for the 'grand opening'. We needed to create an event that would bring the people, so because of that I had to decide a place, a time, a day.

The problems with this poster, is just trying to organise the type and making the most of the space.
The information on this poster is still vague. The signpainter font also, is a bit hard to read.
I like the use of pink but it's a bit cut up on the poster, so more may be better.

I experimented with a lot of type, colour and order so that the hierarchy is right and it reads well.

Using a sans serif for the smaller print breaks up the design and makes it a lot easier to digest. The mix of colours work well because it links it to the logo and givers a hierarchy.

These screen shots here are working on placement. It's important that all the information is readable and is read in the right way.

Working out what typeface looks best with the icons, using the brown from the mushroom.

I reworked the poster so there was more colour. The strip before was too small and broke up the poster too much. This way, I was able to get a tagline in it, to catch someone's eye. Each poster has a different focus because we are tying to advertise our new business. Using a series of posters is an easy way to explain all the important parts.

This poster's focus is about how the customer can create their own TopDog.

This poster is about our delivery service and the details about it

This poster is promoting our van and the idea that we move about. I have added a day where we're parked in Newcastle city centre. This is so at the beginning of the business, people will know where to find us. If it got more popular and well known, we would travel around and post online where we are.

This poster is advertising the 'grand opening'. In order to create customers, we need to prepare them about our opening. We could just pop up in Newcastle, but this way, there is some hype and hopefully customers.

Since each poster has a different focus, I decided to use the colours from the logo to colour code different posters. If there as a lot distributed throughout the area, people could recognise that the pink poster is the grand opening, green is the delivery etc.

I kept the grand opening pink as that is the original poster. There needed to be a reason for people to come to the opening, so I've added a deal to it, and people love special offers.

The red from the tomatoes in the logo is now connected to the 'keep an eye out' poster. Using a subheading in the same colour tells the reader what the writing is about.

Green from the olives now means delivery

The green yellow is from the cheese.

Because each poster has a different focus, they need different headlines to communicate the message of that particular poster.
So I went back to the words and wrote up new headlines, sub heading and body copy. I really enjoy writing things like that so found it to be enjoyable.
The posters had to keep the same look, so the public can instantly recognise the brand because of its strong identity.
So each poster had to have 3 lines of text and point size is 12.
The flyers keep the same look and they had to have 2, point size is 8

Finals

This stayed the same as the headline explains the business, the subheading tells people we're having an Grand Opening. The details of where and when are on there. The deal will bring people in.

This poster is getting people to hashtag about us, build an online presence. Social media is really important to TopDogs. We want to be able to travel around, be known enough to always have customers wanting our product.

This poster is focusing on the delivery element of our business. We want to be very accessible and always open for business, which this poster talks about.

This poster is about how we create them and how you can do.

These are the final posters with my own images. Each poster has a specific headline, a subheading and further details. They all follow the same aesthetic so it works together as a brand. They all have an illustration or bit of info in a roundel, which sums up the poster in another, quicker way.
